The Death of Nature: Environmental Humanities and the Early Modern Period

  • Small Committee Room, K0.31 King's College London, WC2R 2LS (map)

This informal workshop will involve a discussion of pre-circulated sections from Carolyn Merchant's The Death of Nature and general reflection on the role of the early modern in periodising the Anthropocene. It will also encompass time to think about sources and discuss new work. The session is framed as a very general introduction to the environmental humanities: scholars at any career stage and of any discipline are welcome to attend! Tea, coffee, and lunch are all provided. Do get in touch via cems@kcl.ac.uk if you'd like to join.
