CEMS is delighted to announce its first PGR workshop for 22/23 – ‘Beginning a PhD in Early Modern Studies’. The event brings together a panel of current PhD students to share their thoughts on what they've learnt about the process of starting a PhD. The speakers are drawn from departments of History, English, and Theology, but the workshop is aimed at all incoming and first-year PhD students with an interest in the early modern period. Current MA students and those interested in pursuing a PhD are encouraged to attend as well.

The event will take place online, via Zoom, on Monday 10 October at 2pm GMT.

The workshop will open with informal opening remarks from the panel — what do they wish they had known at the outset? How did they cope in those early days? These remarks will be followed by a group discussion and the chance for attendees to ask plenty of questions. The session will be moderated by CEMS Director, Dr Hannah Murphy.
